Description
The Howard H. Baker, Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is seeking to fill a non-tenure track faculty position specializing in teaching research methods to students of public policy and public administration. We are seeking a scholar to teach a wide array of methods based courses, including research design, data analysis, data visualization, and policy communication.
We seek an educator who will contribute to teaching in master’s programs in public administration (MPA) and public policy (MPP), as well as an undergraduate major in Public Affairs. We have particular need for scholars who can teach in a rapidly growing online MPA program.
The teaching load is 3-4 with an expectation that the faculty member will also perform significant service to the School, University, the profession and/or the community.
The appointment will begin August 1, 2026. This is a 9-month position for which the faculty member will be paid on a 12-month basis. The initial appointment will be for one year, after which the appointment may be renewed for additional terms of one-to-three years each. The position is open as to rank: Teaching Assistant Professor or Teaching Associate Professor. Salary is commensurate with rank and experience.
Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, or a related field at time of appointment and must have demonstrable methods training and, preferably, experience in teaching research methods at the college or university level.

Associate Teaching Professor: Candidates must demonstrate a record of effective college- or university-level teaching, including experience teaching research methods or related courses.
